Siesta Key beach in Siesta Key, Florida (near Sarasota) This extraordinary beach was ranked the #1 Beach in the U.S. in 2020 by TripAdvisor and is my favorite Florida Beach. What make it unusual is that the sand is composed of 99% quartz which came from the Appalachian mountains. (Most beach sand is pulverized coral) This quartz composition makes the sand ultra fine and very bright. Even on very hot days it is cool underfoot.
